24 Hour Video Race

Midnight to Midnight

I had a unique shooting experience recently with Corgan Associates in Dallas. Twelve members of their staff participated in a 24 Hour Video Race. I tagged along and shot behind the scenes documentary style photos. The 24 Video Race was a filmaking competion in which teams of videomakers have 24 hours to write, shoot, edit, and score an original short film. A few more specifics about the race...

Theme: wrong turn

Prop: musical instrument

Location: a flagpole

Line of Dialogue: "You don't owe me anything"

First location....a home in Oakcliff. The main character of their film was a koala bear named Kiki. The thing I love most about this photo is if you look closely you can see John's face (Kiki) in the rear view mirror of the scooter.

Next, we headed to Zane Bridge to shoot some driving scenes with Kiki. Not only do you have a giant koala bear driving a scooter through Dallas but you also have a film crew in the back of a truck driving along side of him while filming. We got some good reactions from people walking and driving by!

We finished up at the Zoo and then headed back to Corgan to begin editing.

7:00 p.m. and still more editing...

Almost midnight and approaching the deadline quickly. This last shot is one of my favorites from the entire 24 hours. At this point everyone is super tired and ready to be finished. It's gettting down to the wire. There's something about how quiet this picture feels to me. They were tired, I was tired, everyone was so close to finishing.

So how did the film turn out? Amazing! Such a different perspective for me to see the entire process of putting together a film. So glad I got to be a part of this one. And then I headed home to get some much needed sleep....

MS 150 Frisco to Fort Worth

May 5th & 6th

Bike ride for 150 miles? No thank you. But I will go out and take pictures! We spent a couple hours last weekend with Shana cheering on her friends in this bike race.

The first of my favorite riders of the day...

And my second favorite? One of Shana's friends. First of all I love his shirt! Second, I think it's appropriate considering he had to carry his bike in the last part of the race.
You just finish riding about 149 miles or so and then your bike gives out on you. Talk about determination! He got some good cheers from all the fans.

The past couple weeks I've been working on getting everything set up and ready to go for my new website. In doing so I've been going through some of my pictures from the past few years looking for the best ones to share. I came upon this one today. Taken almost one year ago. It makes my heart melt everytime I look at it. I hope these four cousins look back on this wedding someday and remember how fun it was.

Saturday in the Park...

I spent a beautiful afternoon with a lovely family in the Botanical Gardens yesterday. What a great day! You couldn't ask for better weather and these guys were up for anything! A fun group to photograph. Here's a few group portraits as well as some of my favorite shots of them jumping! Check out the height on some of these guys!

Logan's Run

Logan and I were recently in Waco for his first ultramarathon. A 50k trail run through Cameron Park. Here's a few shots from the day:

Ever wonder what runners eat when they jog 31 miles? M&M's, gummy bears, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches just to name a few. The spread for these runs is always impressive.

And since I could only cheer for my hubby once every ten miles when he would loop through the park, I took a little trip over to Baylor to check out campus. Good ole Pat Neff here in this shot. Every time I see this building I remember how they would always ring the bells so darn early in the morning. Hard to sleep late at Baylor! But the Christmas tunes and Sound of Music always made me smile when walking to class so I guess it was worth it. Wouldn't it be great to go back to college!

We had such a fun time at this wedding! The entire wedding weekend was a blast! Here are some of my favorite shots from the evening.

New Orleans, February 2007

I came upon this cute little shotgun home on my way to my first stop cheering for Logan during the Mardi Gras Marathon. Just a few houses down from Commander's Palace, right off of Prytania. I grabbed a coffee from Still Perkin', the coffee shop right across the street from where my parents lived in the late sixties when my dad was at Tulane, and headed out to watch for Logan.

Below are a few of the shots from my four hours cheering for him around the city.

Here's one last picture from our trip. The counter at Mother's, right outside the French Quarter. In all the years that I've been going to New Orleans this was my first time to stop in at this one. Very good shrimp po-boys. Very worth the wait. :0)
